Our story

From a courtyard in Douala to North High Street.

Délices de Mimi is a love letter to West and Central African cooking — and to the women who taught us how.

West African spices, ginger, peanuts and chilies on a dark wood table

Mimi Ngono grew up the youngest of seven in Douala, Cameroon. From the time she was tall enough to reach the counter, she was at her mother's elbow — grinding peppers, pounding yam, and learning that good food is, above all, an act of patience.

She cooked her way through culinary school in Paris, then through a decade of restaurant kitchens in Brooklyn before settling in Columbus in 2021. What started as Sunday pop-ups out of her apartment turned into a beloved supper club, and finally, in 2024, a brick-and-mortar in the Short North.

At Délices de Mimi, the menu is intentionally small. Stews simmer for hours. Suya is grilled to order over real wood. Bread, sauces, and ferments are made in-house, every day.

"When you eat here, I want you to feel like you're at my mother's table."
